“I have known Mr. Torres for the better part of 15 years through my work at the Bronx Developmental Disabilities Council, where he was a member. He was an avid supporter for staff training and understood how training translated into safe and caring environments for Individuals with Developmental Disabilities.”

— Kevin M. Mead (Past Executive Director of CRCDD - Retired)

“Each time I reminisce on how I met Mr. Torres; it brings a warmth to my heart. I recall walking into the Bronx Educational Opportunity Center seeking “help”. As a single mother, I needed a job which was so hard to come by with only a High School diploma. While at the registration office, I had no idea what training I would sign up for, but I knew I needed a source of income. I decided to register for the Direct Support Professional position because it was 6 weeks which was a great timeframe for me.

Upon entering the classroom, I was introduced to “my” Professor Mr. Torres. He was welcoming and involved. Not only was he the professor, but he was also working in the field, and it allowed him to be relatable to the students”.
